A common choice many people talk about is becoming an entrepreneur and ditching the 9-5 job thing.
Often it is presented and discussed like it always has to be an either-or thing. Either you work a job – or you are an entrepreneur. Some people present this like it has to be a choice – choose one or the other.
Yet there is no reason it has to be just one or the other.
You can be an entrepreneur and still work a job as an employee too.
To be clear there are also many ways to approach employment and ways to make it far better than it typically is for most people. We will get more into that in future posts, but for now just consider that you can use a job, whether that be your current job or something else, to provide stability and resources to help you build your own business or businesses on the side.
Imagine earning an extra $200, or $500 or $1000 or even more each month – on top of what you earn from your job. How could you change your life for the better with that kind of additional income?
These amounts are realistic and they are attainable by anyone who is seriously motivated to do it. It is not pie in the sky fantasy.
Be sure though, no one is going to just give it to you – if you want it then you will have to get it the old fashioned way – that is by earning it.
How Can You Do That?
Lucky for you that you live in perhaps the best time in history so far because you have massive information and technology available that makes possible things that indeed would have been beyond fantasy just a few short years ago.
Today the problem is not a shortage of opportunities but almost the opposite.
You have so many options, and so much information that it is like trying to get a drink from multiple firehoses all pointed at your face and all wide open!
I suggest that you look into the different niches and businesses that are available within them and then pick just one thing that will work and that you feel like will work for you. Then learn that one thing enough to get it up and running and making money. Then keep at it and become proficient enough to make more money and be able to be confident doing it.
Then you have another choice to make.
Keep putting all of your available focus and resources into building that business and reinvesting your revenue (Don’t just spend it!) to make more money there – or begin looking for another business option that you can add. Ideally, something that you can interrelate and interconnect so they both feed each other.
What the heck do I mean?
Just for example – let’s say you created a course online and have a few sales. Then you created some more courses and have more sales. Think about what else you could do. Maybe write an eBook, or a few eBooks on the same topic or topics you cover in your courses. Mention the eBooks in the courses and the courses in the eBooks to help drive more sales and build more authority too.
By the way – there is plenty of information and training available on how to write eBooks and create online courses. It may seem scary and daunting – but it really isn’t that hard if you are willing to learn and work. A little while ago I had no knowledge of online course creation – now I have created and published more than 17 online courses and still counting. I went from zero sales to a few sales to consistently growing sales and enrolments which produce significant and consistent revenue each and every month. I personally would call it semi-passive income (not completely passive income but close!) because once the courses are created and published there are minimal tasks that still need to be done.
That includes mainly responding to students and promoting my courses as well as occasional updates to maintain and improve the value they offer my students.
The same is true with eBooks. I have a few written and published on Amazon and a few more in the works. My biggest challenge is editing – and personally I love to write but I do not enjoy editing nearly as much. Eventually, I will get the editing done on the books I already have written and finish the others I have in progress. I anticipate I will be publishing several more new eBooks in 2020 and each one helps bring in more revenue in numerous ways. You can do the same.
Those are some ideas for you to consider.
Next, maybe you start your own YouTube channel. Initially, the channel will not be monetized since you will have few if any subscribers. That’s OK. You can still monetize it immediately yourself by using it to help drive traffic to your eBook and course sales. See how that works?
That is my own strategy and what I am doing with my YouTube channels now. Eventually, as they grow they will also become monetized and generate more income through YouTube directly – but until then they are already helping me produce revenue through my other products.
Start a website/blog. Create articles and other content there to drive more sales to your courses and your eBooks and promote your YouTube channel. Create a continuous stream of relevant articles, posts, videos, and other valuable content. Over time your subscribers will grow and your channel will eventually become monetized – and make more revenue for you.
Another thing to consider is Affiliate Marketing. Your blog, YouTube channel and many other things can be used to market numerous other products. Maybe you are already familiar with affiliate marketing – or maybe not – but either way do yourself a favor and seriously consider adding it to your business arsenal.
There are a variety of ways to learn about affiliate marketing but one of the best ways I have discovered so far is through Wealthy Affiliate. Best of all you can try it out and start learning for FREE! There is no card information required and nothing to cancel when you sign up for a free membership. That means you have much to gain and absolutely nothing at all to lose.
That’s what I did. I was skeptical – just as you may be, and didn’t want to waste money. However because they offered me a free membership with no strings and no catches (no card number required) and nothing I had to opt-out of later to keep from getting charged, I figured I would give it a look. After several weeks of using it for FREE, I was amazed at what I found and became a premium member. No one pressured me or tried to use hard sales tactics at all – on the contrary.
I found an entire community of thousands of people with similar business interests all trying to actually HELP each other!
You decide for yourself whether it’s worth becoming a premium member or not – but you owe it to yourself to at least try it out for free and see what it has to offer you. Interested? get it HERE.
Many More Options…
There are so many different ways to make money both on and offline that you can certainly find one or even a few that work well for you. You can start an ETSY shop and sell your own products there. You may also be interested in selling on eBay, and or Amazon through Amazon FBA (and other options) or maybe sell in person at flea markets and craft shows in your area.
Even then we are still just scratching the surface of what is available to you.
So go ahead and keep your day job!
Use it to fund your side business or businesses and then grow them as far as you want to take it! Even then you can still keep your job, so long as you enjoy it – and knowing that you make more money from your own separate Income Production Opportunities of your own choosing and under your own control will make your enjoyment of your job all that much better!
Knowing that you work there because you want to and you CHOOSE to do so – and that you have the financial means to leave that job any time you like will dramatically increase your confidence and your happiness.
In future articles and videos I will be covering all kinds of Income Production Opportunities – so check back often and you are bound to find more than enough information and resources to help you make more money and build a better life!
