What Business are You REALLY In?
When it comes down to it you are really in the problem solving and solutions business.
That is true no matter what products and services you are marketing and selling. Solving problems is what you must do if you want to find enough people on a regular basis and a large enough scale to make any real income doing it.
Yet that isn’t what so many people do, is it?
They go at it backwards.
They have an idea for a product or a service and try to find people to “sell” to.
That is a very hard way to go about building a business, and a major reason so many aspiring entrepreneurs fail so often. If you are looking for a better way to approach building your business then start looking at it all from a different angle. Look at it from the point of view of your potential customers and clients.
You need to start by asking questions and finding some answers to questions like;
What do they want?
What is the source of their problems?
What is causing them pain and discomfort?
Once you begin to ask the right questions then you can start to search out solutions that can provide what they seek. The better you do this the more successful you will become.
Luckily for you – you have access to massive amounts of data and knowledge all at your fingertips! If you have a computer and an internet connection – or even just a smartphone – then you have access to a wealth of life-changing knowledge 24/7/365 anytime you want it from almost anywhere in the world!
There are searches you can do, free videos, blog posts, articles, and plenty of free and paid resources available. You can take online courses, join groups and memberships, read eBooks, books, manuals, guides, and get access to all you need to start doing better faster.
Passions vs Profits
There are many people telling you to go pursue your passion when you are trying to build a business.
But alone, that may be very BAD advice.
Here is why – your passion may or may not be something you can effectively monetize. Even if it is it may or may not be profitable enough to justify the time, energy, and resources you will have to put in to make it work.
To build a profitable business that can eventually produce a full-time income and that is sustainable the business first and foremost must be a business that can be profitable. If it is, and even if it is not something you are overly passionate about – you can still be very successful at it.
The profits you make from it can eventually allow you more than enough free time – and the money you need – to be able to pursue whatever you are passionate about as a hobby, even if it isn’t something that is capable of producing a single dollar! It won’t have to because you will have a business that is taking care of all that for you!
Yet if you pursue building a business based on “passion” and it happens to be one that is not profitable – you are going to fail.
Now, do you see why that advice to pursue your passion may be bad advice? I hope so.
Business Reality Doesn’t Care About Your Feelings
Far too many people are promoting too many feel-good products – that tell you what they think you WANT TO HEAR not what you really NEED TO HEAR.
They do that because it is so much easier to get you to buy what they’re selling when they are telling people they have “SECRETS” and blueprints and they can show you how to start a turnkey business in a box overnight in your PJ’s form your laptop and make tens of thousands of dollars instantly while doing next to nothing for it.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
There is just one problem… It’s a complete load of crap.
That’s not how it works in real life.
Success takes time and work – and it isn’t easy, nor will everybody that tries to be successful at “living that laptop lifestyle” succeed either. Even among those who eventually do get to the point where they are making serious money consistently, it is almost always after years of hard work and months to years of making little to nothing at all at first.
The reason most will never get to that point is not because they can’t – but rather because they are unwilling to do the work, so they quit. Many others just never realize what they really have to do to achieve success, so they don’t know about what work needs to be done in the first place. That’s why they keep looking for schemes and it is why so many scammers are more than happy to take their money too!
Why am I telling you this horrible news!
Because once you know the truth then you can learn how to actually start making real progress instead of just making excuses while you chase after the shiny objects, one shiny object after another shiny object and waste more precious time. I don’t like that. I don’t want you to keep wasting your time or your money – I want you to be more successful faster. But of course, what you choose to do is up to you.
Please keep that in mind too as you build your business. On the one hand, you do need to give people what they want, and to a certain extent that will involve telling them what they want to hear.
There are millions of people searching for ways to start a business, how to make money online, and how to achieve success.
While it is true they want to hear about how they can start a business online or offline and how they can make money – and many people are indeed searching for “SECRETS” and shortcuts – you need to be careful to tell them the truth in what you offer. Otherwise, you can never build a long term relationship or a mutually beneficial network with them. If there was a secret that was really a secret to success – that would be one of them.
Yet in truth, that isn’t really a secret – it is just a well known and well-documented business principle you may not have heard about, until now.
By the way – there are two different ways that “Secrets” and “Bluprints” and related buzzwords are used. One is in an attempt to get your attention in a very noisy world, and once they have your attention they will teach you PRINCIPLES, METHODS, and TACTICS than can and do work – if you do the work. In other words, it’s just puffery and just marketing to draw you in, but their actual products and services require work to make them work – and hey will clearly say so in their training.
Some of the biggest and most successful online and offline business owners, instructors, coaches, and authors use these words in this way, and while I am still not a big fan of it – I do understand why, and I do not have a huge problem with it either. I may even do the same with some of my own courses and books – because it works and it sells and it is what people want to hear. But with anything I provide all students, readers, clients, etc. will also get a healthy dose of hard cold reality too! That means WORK is required…
The other group that is always using such terms includes the scammers and snake oil peddlers.
What they are selling is false promises, false hopes, and flat out lies. Nothing they offer works – except to separate the people they trick into buying it from their hard-earned money (money usually earned by the hour working a J O B!).
Just remember – if they are promising easy money, quick money, and that if they say it is “automatic” and anyone can do it – be very very careful because more likely than not all you are about to do is get scammed and waste more money and more time if you fall for that nonsense!
Many Ways and Many Options Available to You
You do not need a million ways to build a business and make money.
To start with all you need is to find ONE that will work for you – then do the work you need to do to make it work and start to pay off. Over time and as you learn more, and have more resources available to you – then you can even expand into other businesses as you choose and pursue other options as you wish.
Before you do that though – you need to start being successful at just one business.
It can be an online business income production opportunity. It can be an offline business too – the choice is yours. Which one is better for you depends on you, your situation, resources available to you, your drive, ambition, and other things that are unique to you.
That is why no one else can make your choices for you. You must decide.
What I can tell you is that an online business is a faster, cheaper, and less risky way to start your own business – and some of them can rival or even exceed brick and mortar businesses in terms of potential profitability. They are also much simpler and easier to set up and launch and do not require nearly as many hoops and hurdles as a more traditional business does.
But again – you know you best. Weigh it all then make a decision and pull the trigger.
Whatever you do – you must do SOMETHING. Take action – or else nothing else will ever change in your life!
Want to Learn More About What I Teach?
If you are serious about building any kind of online business you need to learn about websites, blogs, content creation, and related topics – regardless of the specific business you choose.
In fact – even if you choose and offline business like auto repair, carpet cleaning, handyman services – or any other offline business – having a website and an online presence can still help you increase your business dramatically.
And then there is affiliate marketing.
In case you didn’t know – affiliate marketing involves creating content or otherwise attracting traffic and then referring that traffic (people) to specific products and services by clicking on links usually. Once they do, and if they make a purchase – then you earn a fee.
The fee can be a few cents, a few dollars, up to hundreds and even thousands of dollars – depending on what the product or service is. Most fees are relatively small ranging from a few dollars to a hundred or so, maybe more or maybe less per sale. But here is the thing – you have access to a worldwide audience – and the numbers of sales you can potentially produce are unlimited! That means even modest fees – or even very small fees – can add up to considerable sums of money with enough volume.
It is also a business income production opportunity that you can get started with for very little out of pocket – and in some cases can even start for FREE.
Please do NOT MISUNDERSTAND – it will still take hard work and time and is not easy, despite what some people tell you. But it is real and you can do it too if you want to put in the time and the work to make it work for you.
